formal education in the Merrillville Community School Corporation, graduating from Andrean High School. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age while a member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Berlin Jenkins. As a member of Jerusalem, he was very active in several ministries including the Children’s Church, the Junior Deacons, and the Sunday school. He was also active with the Audio/Video Ministry and was a choir director. Pastor Witherspoon first demonstrated his public speaking skills when he was invited to travel to Clairton, PA to deliver Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. In 1999, Pastor Witherspoon responded to the Lord’s call and began training as a Deacon of the Church. By June of 2000, he realized that the Lord was calling him to a greater purpose and delivered his first public sermon. Since delivering his first sermon, his ministry has been abundantly blessed. In July of 2001, he was invited to be the guest evangelist at his first out of town revival and since that time, he has been invited to preach many more. Sunday June 1, 2003, on the third anniversary of his first sermon, Pastor Witherspoon became an Ordained Minister and the Pastor of the New Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Gary, IN. Under his leadership, God used him to rebuild and establish new ministries, such as the Shepherd’s Care Ministry, the Hospitality, and the Music Ministry. After 3 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Lord, God decided that it was time for Pastor Witherspoon to move. On June 28, 2006 The Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of South Bend, IN adhered to the move of God, and extended the call to Pastor Witherspoon. Since being at BMBC, the church has grown physically and spiritually and many lives have been changed for the better. Pastor Witherspoon has been tremendously blessed throughout his ministry and has many accomplishments that he is extremely proud of. He has been able to preach in many venues across the country, including the Annual Session of the National Baptist Convention. He currently serves as the President of the IMA, 1st Vice Moderator of the District Association, and the Asst. Treasurer in the State Convention. Pastor Witherspoon is married to Nicole Witherspoon, whom he describes as his best friend and Only Lady. They are the proud parents of 3 children, Derryll, Deonne, and Erynne. Pastor Witherspoon is dedicated to the work of the Lord. He feels that God has been preparing him his entire life for this very moment in his ministry. His favorite scripture is found in Acts 17:28 which reads: For in Him, we live, and move, and have our being.
